I know I am finding this a year later but I just wanted to comment on how similar my son's birth story is to your daughter's! I had planned on birthing at a midwife center but was transferred (via an ambulance none the less!!!) to the hospital around the corner after going through exactly what you went through! My midwife came along and I am eternally grateful that she did. I love midwives and what they do! I love that they give mamas to be some control over the birth but also know when to intercede and realize when we are too exhausted to admit we want something else. Happy 1st Birthday to your Little!

What a beautiful story!

For me it was the complete opposite with my son. I was suppose to be in hospital, with an epidural which I didn't want at all but had the risk of if my blood pressure went up, I could lose my eyesight (After some trouble with the birth of my daughter)

I had been diagonsed with Irritable Uterus symptom at about 28-30 weeks. It had started early in the pregnancy (Who the heck has braxton hicks at 6 weeks??!! Ugh) So I basically was feeling like I was in labour most of the pregnancy. So when things started with my son I put it down to that. I was waiting and waiting for it to get bad like my daughter but It never did. I decided to call my Midwife at 2.30am and tell her things were starting to get a little sore and if she could check my BP. I stood up to tell hubby she was coming over and thats when things really started lol! By the time she got there 20mins later I was 7 cms. They rushed me to the car, told me I was not going to make it to hospital, I would have to have him at the unit. I didn't even get into the car and I could feel him coming. I freaked as I was scared I was going to lose my eyesight and never get to see my children grow up. & mins later we had a beautiful boy born at home, and thankfully no health complications! However I would never do a home birth again lol!! Not only was it scary, there was way too much mess to clean up after ;) I would much rather not to have to clean up after having a baby next time lol (Since my hubby wasn't much help lol, he did do 7 loads of washing the next day though hehe)

With My daughter I wanted a water birth at the town unit. When it was suggested to go up to the hospital I refused and wanted to stay there. If I had just listened I wouldn't of gone through everything I did. It was the worse experience I had. So good on you for going up when they suggested it :)

Thank you Robin. Thank you. Your story helped me to view my own birth story in a new light. Mine started out the same as yours but ended in an emergency c-section. The doctor I had never met supported me and my midwives but I still felt a loss. I now see it from a different angle - they all held my hand when I needed them to so that I could birth my baby. You have added to my healing.
